Abstract:
The current review highlights the main advances achieved in utilizing nanosized carriers for optimized drug delivery of cisplatin and other cytotoxic platinum coordination compounds. The treatise is emphasized on exemplary types of carriers (e.g. liposomes, nanoparticles, polymeric micelles, dendrimers, inclusion complexes), their generic properties, advantages, drawbacks, biopharmaceutical and pharmacological aspects as well as the major outcomes of the reported in vitro and in vivo investigations.
