Abstract
Nanomedicine and nanopharmacy are relatively new and promising branches of medical science. They apply specific approaches for overcoming therapy limitations such as: low selectivity, impermeability of biological membranes, unfavorable physicochemical properties and pharmacokinetics of drugs. Nanomedicines are systems with finely controlled characteristics that determine their in vivo behavior. At this point of development there are several approved nanoparticle – based drugs, which are with improved pharmacokinetics and notably reduced toxicity.Тhis review covers the historic developments and clinical applications of nanomedicines.
